On December 2, the Pearland Chinese Association successfully hosted an Obama Care (Affordable Care Act) informational seminar, drawing strong participation from local residents. The goal of the event was to help community members especially Chinese American families gain a clearer understanding of the U.S. health insurance system, the Open Enrollment period, eligibility rules, government subsidies, and how to choose the most appropriate health coverage.
A licensed and highly experienced insurance consultant was invited to deliver the presentation. The speaker provided detailed explanations on topics including:
Overview of the Affordable Care Act and how the system works
Key Open Enrollment dates for 2025
How income levels affect subsidy eligibility
Differences among Bronze, Silver, and Gold plans
How to avoid gaps in coverage or penalties
Options for new immigrants and green card holders
The seminar included an active Q&A session, during which residents raised specific questions about their personal and family insurance needs. The consultant provided clear and practical answers, helping attendees better understand their choices. Many participants expressed that the event was “extremely helpful,” “timely,” and “very informative.”
The Pearland Chinese Association remains committed to serving the community by providing valuable resources, educational programs, and practical support. The Association will continue organizing events related to health, education, culture, and community wellbeing in the future.
