Lunar New Year Celebrations (1.23.2023)

On January 23, the Pearland Chinese Association successfully hosted the first large-scale in-person Chinese New Year Celebration since the COVID pandemic at the Berry Miller Middle School. The event consisted of two parts: an afternoon Lunar New Year Festival at Cafeteria and an evening Lunar New Year Gala in the auditorium, attracting a large number of community members.

Although the venue was limited and the weather was drizzly, the enthusiasm of attendees remained undiminished. Both the front and back parking lots filled up early, and the venue was bustling with people and excitement throughout the day. Inside the auditorium, wonderful cultural performances won waves of applause. Meanwhile, the Fun Fair in the cafeteria was lively and joyful, with children enjoying various games and families sharing festive food.

As the first major in-person Chinese New Year celebration in the Pearland community since the pandemic, the event carried special significance. It not only showcased the beauty of Chinese culture but also strengthened the warmth, unity, and spirit of the community. The Pearland Chinese Association will continue to bring more cultural and public-service events to serve and connect community members.
