On September 30, the Pearland Chinese Association successfully hosted a seminar titled “Sharing Parenting Experiences for Raising Outstanding Children.” Three distinguished parents—Mrs. Xiaoling Liu, Dr. Hongyu Wang, and Mr. Zhiyong Jiang—were invited to share their insights on nurturing their children, who have excelled academically and personally.
The event drew a full house of parents eager to learn and exchange parenting ideas.
During the seminar, the speakers shared practical and heartfelt experiences from different perspectives, focusing on key areas such as building a positive home environment, cultivating strong study habits, developing time-management skills, fostering interests, encouraging independence, and supporting mental well-being.
Mrs. Xiaoling Liu spoke about the importance of steady family support and long-term companionship. She emphasized how proper guidance and encouragement help children grow confidently in a warm yet disciplined environment.
Dr. Hongyu Wang offered a more academic perspective on learning strategies and critical thinking development. He highlighted the importance of not only tracking grades but also helping children build logical thinking, independent problem-solving abilities, and healthy stress-management skills.
Drawing from years of hands-on parenting experience, Mr. Zhiyong Jiang discussed the power of interest-driven learning and self-planning. He encouraged parents to help their children discover their passions and develop a sense of purpose, especially during the demanding high school years.
During the lively Q&A session, parents raised many thoughtful questions. The speakers provided detailed advice on topics such as communicating with teenagers, balancing academics with extracurricular activities, and supporting children during the college application process.
The seminar offered valuable guidance and inspiration for families in the community. The Pearland Chinese Association will continue to host more educational programs to support the growth and success of children and their families.
